In 1929 another 18-hole course (Dunluce Course) was added by the renowned architect, Harry Colt. It’s a fitting name as it boasts spectacular views of the 13th century Dunluce Castle. Everything you would wish to see on an Irish golf trip.
Lahinch Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ireland officially opened in 1927 and is a must on your Customised Golf Trip in Ireland. There are two courses, the Old Course and the Castle Course. The Old Course is designed by Tom Morris/Alister MacKenzie and is the St Andrews of Ireland. It looks out on the Atlantic Ocean and is taxing to play when blustery winds come in off the Atlantic. The Old Course exudes a feeling that cannot be compared anywhere on earth. No wonder it is constantly rated among the top courses and that Golfing Magazine named it Irish golf links winner 2015.
The Golf Club; Baltray, County Louth‚ sits on natural sand dunes firmly placed between the Boyne river, to the south and the Irish Sea, to the east. The natural landscape was ideal for a links layout. This course is straight-forward with very few blind spots or surprises, it is the actual layout that is so demanding. It is undoubtedly one of the countrys finest links courses and home to superb golf in Ireland. It hosts the east of Ireland Amateur Championship every year.
The Island Golf Club was designed in 1890 and is one of the 12 first Golf Clubs to be founded in Ireland ( it’s the third oldest in Dublin). It is an island and is surrounded by striking scenery, Donabate beach, Broadmeadow Estuary and the Irish sea. This spectacular Golf Club has made a priority of protecting its’ heritage and beautiful nature around it. In 2015 it was ranked as number 13 in Golf Digest Ireland’s top 100 courses in Ireland. In the past you could only reach the island by boat but now you can have a private Irish driver take you directly to the course in luxury and style.
The Royal County Down Golf Club, this popular Golf Club is high of the list of all golfer’s to visit. Founded in 1889 the Golf Club is located in the Murlough Nature Reserve and is in the seaside resort of Newcastle in Co. Down. At 127 years old, it is one of the oldest Golf Clubs in Ireland and has two 18-hole link courses, the Championship course and the Annesley links. It stretches out over 7,200 yards along the shores of Dundrum Bay, making it one of the most naturally stunning courses in the world.
Tralee Golf Club; the golf club is a rugged and exhilarating masterpiece and Palmer, let nature do most of the work. The majority of the elevated holes grip tightly to the coast land, giving way to some spectacular scenery from the cliff tops right over Tralee Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. There are very few links that grab your attention the moment you see them; Tralee golf course is one of those few captivating courses for a unique golf tour in Ireland.
